Micchia Family Update
Youngstown — Posted on December 23, 2008 at 12:52 pm
I am continually in awe of the connectedness of the modern world. I am grateful to Frank Micchia Jr. for his comments on my first post, about the families who have lived in our home on Fifth Avenue.
I listed in that post that I “want to learn more about the Micchia family.” Frank was very kind to oblige:
A little update about the Micchia family. There were 5 children and I am the eldest. Frank Jr. Joseph, Joanne, Ronald and Linda. My father died in 1978 and the house was sold shortly afterward. My father came to this country in 1913 from Calabria, Italy at the age of 17. He and his partner opened the Italian Restaurant at 25 N. Hazel Street. It was a very popular restuarant in downtown Youngstown.
Frank still lives in the Youngstown area, I believe, and his youngest brother Ronald is a city councilman in Mentor. Sincere thanks to Frank and Ronald for their correspondence.
