2008 – My Year in Pictures

I sincerely wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope 2009 finds you healthier and wealthier than 2008. It’s been a momentous year for me, having left my job of eight years to go it alone. I’ve met lots of great people, as well, and I started a second blog.

We took trips to Denver; Washington, DC; Table Rock State Park, SC; Disney (thanks Carl) (and Sanford–thanks Barb!); and Hilton Head (thanks Mom). We were always grateful to come back to our Youngstown home. In the meantime, I found space to write some 150 blog posts, and I’m grateful to you, faithful reader, for coming along for the ride.

Here’s a look back at the past year, through pictures. The process of creating this little two-minute slideshow took me approximately five hours. It was one of those projects where you’re sure the next step will be the last, and it should only take another five minutes to finish. Then, you find a glitch.

Some photo’s not the right size–it’s too big and will take up too much space, or it’s too small and is pixelated. Then some of the photos that look great are so large that the audio skips when trying to put everything together. So, you re-open it, you re-edit, you re-crop, you re-save, you re-add it, and you realize–reluctantly–that you’re not going to bed anytime soon.

Then, the format is wmv–which I hate–so I’ll try to recode it as mpg. But the audio is so loud, it’s distorted. I’ll just upload it to YouTube. Shit, there’s an error.

So, this is the best I could do at 3:30am, and I hope it’s good enough. Peace.

Edit: Finally got it uploaded to YouTube. Audio may still be slightly distorted. The music is “Lady on the Water” from Blitzen Trapper’s Furr.
