Gourmet Grilled-Cheese Sandwiches coming to Downtown Youngstown
Youngstown — Posted on May 26, 2009 at 8:04 amI have never had a gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, but I can’t wait to try one! The Lemon Grove, opening in mid-June, is using as many recycled products as possible and opening in a century-0ld building at 122 W. Federal Street.

From today’s profile in the Vindicator:
The floor and bar are being built from materials salvaged from a 160-year-old barn from Brookfield. He found the items for sale on Craigslist, a Web site featuring free classified advertisements.
“We’re trying to use as many recycled products as we can,” Harver said.
Harver and his construction crew are making the tables with Eric Alleman, a Cleveland artist and playwright, stenciling art on each of them.
“You can buy a table if you like it,”
Harver said. “We’ll just make more.”
Not only do I think the restaurant sounds great, but Harver clearly has Youngstown’s interests at heart:
“I wouldn’t do it anywhere else but downtown Youngstown,” said Harver, 26, born and reared in the city. “There’s a great misconception in the area that downtown is unsafe. But it is safe, and we have a great community business down here. There’s a resurgence. People are looking for places with character, and downtown Youngstown is full of character.”
Look for “live music, theater, lecturers, discussion groups, poetry readings and art displays.” Sounds like Harver understands Youngstown to a T. (Or a “Y”?)

I have had gourmet cheese sandwiches in NYC, and they are delicious! I can’t wait for the Lemon Grove! Let us know the official opening date as soon as you know. Also, in case I haven’t already told you I love the new format for the blog!
Melt in Lakewood serves gourmet grilled cheese. They always have a line out the door, even on weekdays. I am able to walk there from my house, and it’s lovely.
