Keep up pressure for Scrappers cancelation (success!)
Events — Posted on August 12, 2009 at 8:46 amEncouraging news this morning from The Vindicator suggesting the Mahoning Valley Scrappers are reconsidering their plan to dedicate a night to the spectacle that is criminal Jim Traficant. The Scrappers have been “flooded with e-mails and phone calls.” Know what that means? We have to keep up the pressure until we get confirmation the event is canceled.

Why should it be canceled? Just have a look at this video. Also, read my rather passionate post on the Vindy blog.
Here’s my Scrappers e-mail, to get you started:
I read with much anger and dismay the report that the Scrappers were planning to hold a night in honor of Jim Traficant’s release. The Valley has moved beyond the crime and corruption that will forever be tied to Traficant’s name and reputation.
We do not need to continually be made laughing-stocks of, as happened last night on MSNBC’s Hardball, where they featured the story of your planned event.
I am encouraged by this morning’s report that the Scrappers management is reconsidering the event, and I urge you to follow through with the cancelation of this ill-advised concept.
Respectfully,
Tyler Clark
[Update: As of 1pm, the promotion is officially canceled. Now it's time to thank the Scrappers for doing the right thing. Thanks for everyone who spoke out.]
